Bringing Hope and Help in the Midst of COVID-19 in Warren
With a presence in almost every ZIP code in America, The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to respond to the unique needs of people living in poverty. These challenges are exponentially magnified during times of crisis, including pandemics like coronavirus (COVID-19). Across the United States, we are stepping up to the challenge and continue to serve the most vulnerable populations in each community. This is just one of many stories of how we are meeting the needs of those who rely on The Salvation Army during difficult times.
From Majors Cornell and Candace Voeller of the Warren Corps Community Center:
We held our first drive through food distribution with Gleaners yesterday. The plan was to give food to 300 families in 3 hours, we served 544 families in 4 hours until our supplies were completely exhausted. When we have done drive thru produce in the past, we served 150 families and cars backed up for a half mile down Mound Rd. We are also grateful for the Warren Police Department and the traffic support they provided yesterday as cars were backed up for a mile and a half.
Community, working together, and looking out for each other is more important than ever. We are still here, meeting needs every day. We pray that each of those families will enjoy the meals they share and be blessed with health and happiness.
