$5,000 Kettle Challenge

Dec 14, 2023

With Christmas just around the corner, The Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle fundraising campaign in Kosciusko County is getting a big boost from a local couple looking to encourage generosity from holiday shoppers. On Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16, all donations made to local Red Kettles up to $5,000 will be matched, turning every $5 into $10 and every $10 into $20.

The impact of a gift this size could be tremendous if holiday shoppers increase their giving just a little and help The Salvation Army meet its the goal of raising $5,000 in only two days. Once doubled, the grand total of $10,000 would help to fund weeks of services to the community in 2024. From keeping the food pantry stocked to providing funds for emergency financial assistance, these donations are used throughout the year to help Kosciusko County residents make it through times when they are struggling to keep a roof over their heads or feed their families.

"Matches are a wonderful way to double the impact of your gifts to our iconic Red Kettles," said Envoy Ken Locke of The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County. "When you give to the Kettle on December 15 and 16, you double your blessings to local families going through tough times. We thank you all so much for your kindness and generosity."

This has been a challenging year for many Kosciusko County residents, but The Salvation Army has been working hard to meet the increased need they've seen in the face of record inflation. Donations made to Red Kettles in November and December will help keep hope alive for local families during the holidays and long after Christmas has passed.

The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to help ring bells at Red Kettles during this match period and on the final shopping days leading up to Christmas. These important volunteers are vital to reaching the goal of raising $5,000 on Friday and Saturday. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell for two hours is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
