Last Sunday, TobyMac, MercyMe and Zach Williams delivered an uplifting performance at Little Caesar’s Arena – a whole arena of concertgoers praising God with these skilled musicians was truly inspiring.

Equally inspiring was the generous donation to The Salvation Army from the Awakening Foundation, the giving arm of Awakening Events, which represents the artists, and Altrua HealthShare, a faith-based healthcare company.

“It’s wonderful to see this support for our Veterans who are facing homelessness. They’ve been through many battles already in life, and it’s so important for us to be able to support them with a safe place to stay as well as case management while they overcome some of their current struggles,” said Major Brian Goodwill, Washtenaw County corps officer.

The donation is part of $200,000 the two organizations have committed to give to communities around the United States to provide aid and relief for those impacted by the pandemic, including Salvation Army locations and other groups.

In honor of veteran’s day, the donation will go to the Washtenaw County veteran’s shelter. The funds will provide 30 nights of shelter to veterans experiencing homelessness.

The Ken & Marianna Staples Veterans' Hope House, located at 3660 Packard in Ann Arbor, provides a comfortable living space for up to ten veterans at once.

If you are a veteran in need of housing assistance, contact Housing Access of Washtenaw County. If you have been inspired to help us in our mission, you can donate to the Washtenaw County’s virtual red kettle, or volunteer as a bell ringer at registertoring.com.
