There’s a new way to donate to The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign. Donors can now contribute with the tap of their smartphone! Whether you don't carry cash or just want to give in a way that is contact-free now you can use Kettle Pay to donate safely and securely at the red kettles.
We've put near field communication, or “NFC” stickers on all of the iconic red kettles across the Metropolitan Division. The stickers contain microchips that allow users to make a donation securely via Apple Pay or Google Pay as they tap their phone against the tag. The technology is compatible with iPhone X and newer models, and most Android phones. For other devices, simply scan the QR code on the red kettle sign or the ad/billboard. Donations will go to The Salvation Army corps community center nearest to you.
The Red Kettles and Christmas campaign as a whole are integral to fulfilling our mission of serving those in need without discrimination: approximately 70% of our annual donations are received during the Christmas season. The money raised will also fund programming all year long, including rehabilitation for substance use disorders, meals and rental assistance for families, and shelter for our homeless neighbors in need.
Of course, you still have the opportunity to donate spare change, gold coins, and cash at Red Kettle locations across the Metro Division, spanning from Rockford, Illinois, to Merrillville, Indiana. Every donation provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay within the community in which they are given.
The best way to ensure that services continue is to enlist in Love’s Army with a sustaining monthly gift.
