We fight poverty with love Image

We fight poverty with love

By providing programs that serve the body, mind and soul, The Salvation Army helps alleviate the symptoms of poverty - and works to address the root issues that cause it.

How we help overcome poverty

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: Our Social Services Caseworkers assist individuals and families who are facing crisis that include utility back payments, enrollment in money saving energy payment plans, rental assistance to avoid eviction, and a variety of services for those who have faced a fire or flooding. Call 734-722-3660 for more information.

FOOD PANTRY AND PRODUCE: Our food pantry provides food and basic hygiene items for those who live from paycheck to paycheck.  We also offer fresh produce, bread and other donated items to the public regardless of income and without an appointment. Call 734-722-3660 for more information.

PATHWAY OF HOPE:
The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope initiative provides individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Army's history of compassionate serving. By helping families overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education, we can lead families down a path toward increased stability and, ultimately, self-sufficiency. Call 734-722-3660 for more information.

"While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight.
While little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight.
While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now,
I'll fight.
While there is a drunkard left,
While there is a poor lost girl upon the streets,
While there remains one dark soul without the light of God,
I'll fight - I'll fight to the very end!"
