FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Salvation Army To Celebrate The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY - The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County will host a Multicultural Awareness Celebration on Sunday, January 19 to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In addition to being a charity, The Salvation Army is a church - with four locations in Milwaukee County (Milwaukee's north side, Milwaukee's west side, Greenfield and Oak Creek). The service will bring members of all four locations to worship together.

"Since this is the Sunday before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our theme is 'Come to the Table,'" said Major Steve Woodard, Milwaukee County Coordinator. "We will focus on reconciliation, both to God and to others."

The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. (doors open at 9:45 a.m.) at The Salvation Army's Oak Creek Corps, 8853 S Howell Ave. in Oak Creek.

"It's important for us to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr's dream of reconciliation, ask ourselves what work is yet to be done in this area, and equip people to do the work of reconciliation.," Woodard said.
