Young Professionals creatively Transform Lives

with Building Hope Food Drive

Wichita, KS (February 22, 2018) –The Salvation Army’s Wichita Young Professionals organization (YP) will host their annual Building Hope Food Drive Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at Hiawatha Camp & Retreat Center (1601 W. 51st St North). Area High School student teams will construct amazing massive themed structures created with donated non-perishable products. Co-coordinator and YP Vice-Chair Bradley Warzeka from Cargill shares, “This event engages our youth and spreads awareness not only about what The Salvation Army does but also helps remedy one of the greatest needs in our community.”  Construction begins at 10:00 a.m. and judged at 1:00 p.m. for the awarding of a coveted traveling trophy and the honor of giving back to help support those in our community struggling to put food on the table.

“At Dillons, we believe no one in our community should ever go hungry, and no food in our stores should ever go to waste.  It’s part of our Purpose and will help uplift our customers, our communities, and each other.  That’s why events like, Building Hope, are so meaningful to us.  Dillons is pleased to serve as a partner with donated foods for this event and look forward to seeing all the creative displays prepared by students.”  Sheila Lowrie, Corporate Affairs Manager.

YP Board Chair Brenda Gutierrez is excited about the learning opportunity the event provides students to give back to community and pointed out, “Building Hope helps make a difference in the lives of all of those who turn to The Salvation Army’s food pantry.”
