Hungry is no way to spend a childhood

Hungry is no way to spend a childhood.

The Salvation Army helps cure hunger daily by providing nutritious meals to those in need.

Here in Michigan and Indiana,
one out of six children face food insecurity.

The Salvation Army works to ensure that every member of our community has the food they need to thrive. If you face hunger, we want you to know that you are not alone.

If you need help with food, please
contact The Salvation Army nearest you.

Hunger is curable. You can help.

When you support your local Salvation Army, you are helping to make sure that everyone in your community has access to food every day.

The food pantries across our division, usually located in our Corps Community Centers,
are stocked with donations from individuals and local businesses and staffed by volunteers.

The Salvation Army provides food for the hungry through:

Food Pantries

By offering access to free fresh produce and canned goods, we provide valuable meal supplementation while helping those in need maintain their independence and dignity. These programs are especially crucial in "food deserts," where entire communities lack access to a grocery store.

Meal Programs

From sit-down programs that provide nutritious, hot meals and valuable human interaction, to mobile meals in disaster areas, to feeding programs in shelters and residential facilities, we help ensure that the most vulnerable members of society do not go hungry.

Community Gardens

Each community garden provides a no-cost, renewable source of
produce, as well as vital work structure for those involved in the
cultivation and care of the food.
