Focus on Mission: Food Assistance

Jul 19, 2017

An estimated 12.7 percent of American households were food insecure at least some time last year, meaning they lacked access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members. In various communities throughout the WMNI Division, those who lack adequate resources to provide food for their families are served through Salvation Army food pantries, meal programs and community food kitchens.

Kent County Assistance

In Kent County, those who have an emergency need for food items are assisted by The Salvation Army with food products to last a few days and are connected with community benefits, including SNAP applications, for which they may be eligible. This county-wide Food Pantry is open every weekday with varying hours. Last year, we provided nearly 5,000 households with emergency food assistance in Kent County alone.

The Kent County pantry is open Monday through Friday.  Donations of food and other necessities are gladly accepted! Visit our Kent county page for more details.
