2018 Bell ringing ends on high note

LA CROSSE – The Salvation Army wrapped up the bell ringing portion of the 2018 Red Kettle Campaign on a high note.

Bell ringing in 2018 raised a total of $282,082.05 – more than $36,000 ahead of last year’s total.  The bell ringing portion does not include dollars from Match Day sponsors, only donations made into red kettles.  Included in the total is the $33,661.29 in public donations raised during Mayo Clinic Health System’s Match Day on December 22nd – the highest daily total at kettles over the past three years.

“We are so thankful for all the volunteers and donors that helped us have a historic year at the red kettles throughout La Crosse County,” said Alex Riley of The Salvation Army.  “These dollars are going to fund local programs for the homeless, the hungry, and families that are struggling to make ends meet.”

The Red Kettle Campaign accounts for approximately one-third of The Salvation Army of La Crosse County’s annual budget.  Dollars that are raised during the three-month-long Campaign fund every day programs such as the ‘Emergency Shelter’ and seasonal programs such as ‘Feed the Kids’ and the ‘Angel Giving Tree’.  The Red Kettle Campaign is comprised of donations made to red kettles, donations made outside of red kettles, and direct mail donations.

While bell ringing finished on December 24th, the Red Kettle Campaign runs through January 31st.  For more information on the Red Kettle Campaign or to make a donation, visit www.SAlacrosse.org.
