FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2018 Red Kettle Campaign Kick-Off & First Day of Bell Ringing

LA CROSSE – Thousands of volunteers will soon ring bells throughout La Crosse County to help people in need.

On Friday, November 9th, The Salvation Army of La Crosse will kick-off the 2018 Red Kettle Campaign with a free and open to the public Pancake Breakfast at the Onalaska American Legion. The event, running from 7-9am, will be an opportunity for volunteers and donors to learn about the difference bell ringing makes in their community, have a chance to sign up for bell ringing shifts, and make donations which will be matched up to $2,500 by an anonymous donor.  The event will feature free pancakes, sausage links from Bakalars, milk from Organic Valley, coffee from Moka as well as other donations from Hunger Task Force of La Crosse and Courtesy Corporation.

The Salvation Army will officially begin ringing bells the following day on Saturday, November 10th as Brenengen Auto Group matches up to $15,000 at all kettles throughout La Crosse County.  Brenengen employees will also ring at various locations in an attempt to help The Salvation Army kick off its Campaign in the biggest way possible.

The bell ringing portion of the Campaign runs Monday through Saturday from November 10th through December 24th.  Shifts are from 10am-8pm at various sites throughout La Crosse County.  The Campaign accepts donations as a whole from November 1st through January 31st of 2019.

Bell ringers are still needed.  Volunteers can sign up for open time slots by going to www.SAlacrosse.org or by contacting The Salvation Army at (608)782-6126.

Red Kettle Campaign donations account for approximately one-third of The Salvation Army of La Crosse’s annual budget. Funds support all programs including the Emergency Shelter, Meal Program, Feed the Kids, and Angel Giving Tree.
