Hygiene Supplies Stretched Thin at The Salvation Army Shelters
COVID-19 emergency response sees an uptick in people served
DANE COUNTY, WI - The Salvation Army Capital Area is working closely with state agencies to address the COVID-19 outbreak. Across the country, trained Salvation Army Emergency Response staff are on standby to assist if requested.
Ensuring the safety of those who depend on The Salvation Army’s programs and services, along with the safety of staff and volunteers, is of utmost priority. While remaining operational and engaged in service, The Salvation Army Capital Area has experienced an uptick in the number of people in need of services and hygiene supplies. To keep up with demand for a vulnerable population, the organization is seeking donations:
- Washcloths
- Toothpaste
- Bath Towels
- Twin Sheets
- Microwaveable Meals & Snacks
- Deodorant
- Travel-Sized Hygiene Supplies
- Personal Hand Sanitizer
Donations can be brought to 3030 Darbo Drive in Madison on weekdays between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. Online donations accepted at SalvationArmyDaneCounty.org.
The Salvation Army has increased its cleaning efforts at all its facilities, including our shelters and kitchens. Our staff is regularly cleaning and disinfecting in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, case managers will continue to assist clients, but limiting non-essential interaction via the phone or online.
The Salvation Army has been serving Dane County since 1890 and will continue to do so in His name without discrimination. As the situation evolves, we will work in partnership to prepare and respond in order to meet the needs of the Dane County community.
