La Crosse Emergency Shelter receives crucial financial support
LA CROSSE – The Salvation Army of La Crosse County received a very generous gift from the La Crosse Community Foundation.
The grant of $50,000, which is part of a program that is funded in part with grant support from the Robert and Eleanor Franke Charitable fund of La Crosse Community Foundation, is designated to support the needs of their Emergency Shelter, which will be utilized to help continue daily operations such as a warm, safe place to sleep, meals three times a day, hot showers, and laundry at no cost to residents and community members.
“We are blessed to receive this incredible donation from the La Crosse Community Foundation,” says Director of Social Services for The Salvation Army Krista Coey, “Support from our great community partners allows us to stay focused on our mission in doing the most good.”
The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter provides temporary shelter and/or services for households experiencing homelessness. The mission of the Emergency Shelter is to meet the emergent needs of those experiencing homelessness while providing access to Case Management and supportive services to assist those served in developing self-sufficiency. The Salvation Army of La Crosse's Emergency Shelter is non-discriminatory and open to men, women, and families.

The Emergency Shelter has a capacity of 62 including families, individuals, and children with the means to go to 80 in climate weather conditions. The Shelter is staffed by a team of Shelter Leads, Shelter Workers, Case Manager/Shelter Lead, and Social Services Director. With the shelter open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and 365 days/year.
