Matching opportunity at Valley View Mall kick starts December Match Days

LA CROSSE – An anonymous donor is matching up to $10,000 in donations made to Valley View Mall red kettles on Tuesday to kick off special matching events during the home stretch of bell ringing.
The donor – who would like to remain anonymous – will match every dollar donated to kettles at Valley View Mall up to a total of $10,000. As per request, only donations made at Valley View Mall between 10am-8pm will be counted toward the total. Riverfest Commodores and First Mates will be staffing the three kettle sites at Valley View Mall all day long on December 4th to add to the excitement of the event.
Match Days will continue to be held every Saturday throughout December starting on the 8th with Kwik Trip Day leading up to December 24th – the final day of bell ringing which will also act as a final matching opportunity. Not including the matching contributions, more than $73k was raised in public donations on Match Days during the 2017 Red Kettle Campaign.
The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser throughout the year and accounts for approximately one-third of the annual budget. Campaign contributions help fund various day-to-day services provided by The Salvation Army including the Emergency Shelter and Meal Program. Red Kettle Campaign dollars are raised through bell ringing, non-bell ringing donations, and mail appeal.
