New Assignment: Waukesha County Salvation Army Leaders to North Dakota
Farewell at June 21st Friday Nights Live, and at June 23rd Sunday Worship Service

Waukesha, WI (June 12, 2019) –  After five years leading The Salvation Army Waukesha County Corps, Majors Nelson and Deborah DeLaVergne are moving on to their next assignment.

Now in their thirty-sixth year of Salvation Army service, the married ordained ministers will lead a corps in the state capital city of Bismarck, North Dakota. < https://www.bismarcknd.gov/>

"Waukesha was our twelfth appointment, “ explained Nelson. “My wife and I have been very blessed to be here. We will have many happy memories to take with us.” The new assignment in Bismarck will put the couple closer to family.

“While here, Deborah and I have seen many changes in the Waukesha County Corp’s programs, updates to the building, additions to the staff and new people on the Advisory Board. Waukesha County continues to grow, so there is much more to be accomplished in serving those most in need through our generous donors and loyal volunteers.”

He continued, “The Salvation Army serves not just the city of Waukesha, but the entire county, and we are honored by the broad support we have experienced from very caring people for more than twelve decades. This Spring, we finished a full week of celebrating the founding The Salvation Army in Waukesha County 125 years ago in1894, and that celebration will continue through the rest of 2019.”

DeLaVergne believes Waukesha County has much to offer its residents. “We have enjoyed the downtown Friday Nights Live programs and many other events held downtown. We have enjoyed being in parades around the county. Our annual Red Kettle campaigns have been successful, and three years ago, we were blessed to begin staging four benefit Christmas concerts each year at locations across Waukesha County.
