Space for about four dozen in Waukesha County Salvation Army Program

(Waukesha) . . .  The Waukesha County Salvation Army will again conduct its popular Summer Day Camp program in 2019, this year running from Monday, June 17 through Friday, August 23 according the charity’s Youth Ministry director, Cheri Winchowky.

Registration opens Friday, March 1 for children entering second grade to those entering seventh grade.

“This is one of the least costly day camps in the region with weekly fees of just $100,” explained Winchowky. “Our day camp is a real value, but if $100 per week is a true hardship, we even have available, some limited scholarships.”

Important information, legal authorizations and all necessary forms are soon available online at, WaukeshaSalvationArmy.org by then clicking on “Empowering Youth.” The forms may also be picked up in-person at 445 Madison Street in Waukesha.

Camp Counselor Jobs Available

“We are also actively recruiting paid day camp counselors so we have time to get them properly trained,” explained Winchowky.

“These are great summer jobs for retired men and woman, and for college students who have career interests in teaching, parks and rec management, child psychology and church or charitable work.” But time is of the essence for those interested to make application.

Winchowky urged interested camp counselors to take immediate action. “Because their application must go through our human resources website, and various screening routines to ensure child safety, interested persons need to get their materials in just as soon as possible.” The Salvation Army employment site is:  http://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/usc/employment.

In 2019, the Waukesha County Salvation Army is celebrating its 125th year of local service to Waukesha County, having been founded in 1894. The local unit:
