The Salvation Army Assists Search and Rescue Efforts in Delaware County, NY

(Sidney, New York June 10, 2016) - -  The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team based in Sidney, New York (Delaware County) was requested and responded to a Missing Person Search in Masonville, New York this morning. The team provided canteen and hydration services to 30 first responders who were involved in the search and recovery of a missing person.  

“The request to respond came from the Delaware County Office of Emergency Services. Our team of five volunteers provided lunch today to First Responders at the Masonville (New York) Fire Station. We are grateful to the Oneonta Salvation Army for the use of the mobile feeding unit which enabled us to support the search and rescue teams,” said Michael Schwartz, Emergency Disaster Services Director for the Empire State Division of The Salvation Army. 

Search and rescue teams from the Delaware County area were involved as were the New York State Police, New York State Forest Rangers and the NYS Office of Emergency Management.
