Short of Christmas Kettle Goal, The Salvation Army of Dane County Hosts Three Match Days
DANE COUNTY - With 15 ringing days left in the campaign, The Salvation Army is looking to Match Days and their generous sponsors to make up the shortage in donations at the red kettles this season. Of its $600,000 Christmas Kettle Goal, the organization has raised a mere 17%; all while 65% of available bell ringing shifts remain unfilled.
The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army's most longstanding and vital fundraiser that supports year-round services including intensive case management, seven housing programs, two homeless shelters, a chapel, community center, and more.
"The money raised at the kettles stays in Dane County," says Steve Heck, Director of Operations and Development. "The Red Kettle Campaign is truly an act of neighbors helping neighbors and communities thrive." What does help is the number of Adopt-a-Kettle companies, Community Partners, and individuals and families that pick up shifts and ring in their neighborhoods. Neighbor to neighbor contact at the kettles instills a sense of charity and tradition in children and inspires gratefulness in others.
The campaign runs through 8 pm on Christmas Eve, and with 65 kettle stand locations across Dane County, there is sure to be one near you! The Salvation Army encourages the community to pick up a shift on a Match Day or make a stop by the kettle to double their gift.

Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children.
