State Bank issues $15,000 grant to Salvation Army for COVID-19 relief
LA CROSSE – The Salvation Army of La Crosse County is the latest recipient of a $14 million grant program which is providing relief to those directly impacted by COVID-19.
State Bank Financial announced that The Salvation Army of La Crosse County was approved to receive a grant for $15,000 from the Targeted Impact Fund, created by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, to provide funding to their Emergency Shelter and Social Services programs. The Salvation Army, which provides shelter to individuals and families in addition to free meal services and access to case management social workers, has continued to serve La Crosse County by adapting under the restrictions caused by COVID-19.
“We are so grateful to State Bank Financial and the Federal Home Bank of Chicago,” says Christina Knudsen of The Salvation Army, “Every dollar counts as we continue to help those that need our help now more than ever.”
This new grant program provides each member institution of FHLB Chicago up to $20,000 in grant funds which can be used to directly support those most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Grant can also be awarded to organizations that promote equity and opportunity for Black and Latino communities, entities that provide sustainability for affordable housing, as well as small businesses such as Minority Business Enterprises and Women’s Business Enterprises.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact continue to ravage communities across our District, some populations have been disproportionately affected by this crisis,” said Matt Feldman, President and CEO of FHLBank Chicago. “We know additional investment in these communities through our members is essential if we are to continue helping those in need who have been particularly hard hit by this crisis.”
A check presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 13th at 1pm with representatives of The Salvation Army and State Bank Financial. The presentation will be held at State Bank Financial’s offices located at 401 Main Street #100.
