‘Back 2 School’ program in need clothing sponsors
LA CROSSE – A program hoping to provide families and their children with first day of school clothing is in need of clothing sponsors.
The ‘Back 2 School’ program is a collaborative effort from The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities in La Crosse. The program provides an unlimited amount of school supplies to students and up to 500 students with clothing. Public donations are needed to keep up with program demand.
“We still have a large amount of tags that need to be taken before distribution day,” said Alex Riley of The Salvation Army. “Imagine the impact that you have on that child who can walk into the first day of school without fear of being ridiculed for not having a new wardrobe.”
Tags featuring a student’s name, clothing sizes, and special considerations can be found at The Salvation Army’s offices at 223 N. 8th Street or at The Salvation Army Thrift Store at 728 Copeland Avenue. Tags are also available through a new partnership with Plato’s Closet and Once Upon A Child.
Businesses, organizations, or individuals that would like to take a large amount of clothing tags can do so by contacting The Salvation Army offices at 608-782-6126. All clothing donations are asked to be returned to The Salvation Army by August 10th.
School supply donations can be brought to The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, or Menards in La Crosse or Onalaska. Distribution of the clothing and school supplies will be on August 14th. For more information on the ‘Back 2 School’ program, visit www.SALaCrosse.org.
