The Salvation Army seeking sponsors to help kids return ‘Back 2 School’
LA CROSSE – A program hoping to provide families with school supplies and clothing is now accepting donations.
The ‘Back 2 School’ program is a collaborative effort from The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities in La Crosse. The program provides an unlimited amount of school supplies to students and up to 500 students with clothing. Public donations are needed to keep up with program demand.
Valley View Mall will once again feature a pencil stand that will display a student’s basic information including clothing sizes and special considerations. Shoppers will be asked to act as ‘tag sponsors’ by taking a tag, purchasing clothing, and dropping it back off at the pencil stand. The pencil stand will go up on Thursday, July 25th at 11 am outside the Ulta and Zales Mall entrances.
Tags featuring a student’s name, clothing sizes, and special considerations can be found at The Salvation Army’s offices at 223 N. 8th Street or at The Salvation Army Thrift Store at 728 Copeland Avenue. Tags are also available through a new partnership with Plato’s Closet and Once Upon A Child.
Businesses, organizations, or individuals that would like to take a large amount of clothing tags can do so by contacting The Salvation Army offices at 608-782-6126. All clothing donations are asked to be returned to The Salvation Army by August 10th.
Distribution of the clothing and school supplies will be on August 14th. For more information on the ‘Back 2 School’ program, visit www.SALaCrosse.org.
