PRESS RELEASE:
The Salvation Army To Host 'Taste of the South' Fundraising Event
DANE COUNTY - The Salvation Army of Dane County will host its annual fall fundraiser on Thursday, September 12 with a southern twist! Supporting year-round programs and services for the ONLY Single Women's and Emergency Family Shelters in Dane County, Taste of the South: Bourbon & Bites provides a delicious way to give back. At the grand re-opening of Hawks Landing Golf Club, the event will feature delectable southern-inspired hors d'oeuvres created by Chris Eigenberger, an array of local and renowned bourbons as well as sweet tea and lemonade (with a tasting glass to keep), an extensive silent auction, and a live band. Support of this event is not only a night of southern food and fun, but directly benefits The Salvation Army of Dane County's shelter services, as they are home to the only Single Women's Shelter and Emergency Family Shelter in Dane County. With shelter services on the rise, a community approach to ending chronic homelessness is vital.

About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. The Salvation Army tracks the level of need across the country with the Human Needs Index (Human NeedsIndex.org). Locally, 87 cents of every dollar raised is used to support programs and services in Dane County.
