GREEN BAY – In honor of National Salvation Army Week, The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay will bring their Emergency Disaster Vehicle, known as the canteen, to area fire stations to serve lunch on Thursday, May 16.
According to Captain Matthew O’Neil, Area Coordinator for Greater Green Bay, “National Salvation Army Week is about highlighting our local programs and services, and also about thanking our supporters. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department plays an important role in our Christmas Distribution by conducting the Toys for Teens Drive, and they also support our community every day, so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to thank them for everything they do.”
National Salvation Army Week was declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954 and is celebrated this year during the week of May 13 – 18.
