The Salvation Army To Host Specialized Training for Volunteers
WAUWATOSA – Have you ever wanted to volunteer for The Salvation Army during a disaster (hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding) or become a Salvation Army Chaplain (provide emotional and spiritual care to those that have experienced a traumatic incident)? If so, The Salvation Army is hosting numerous training sessions in January, February and March. These classes are required for volunteers being sent to any scene.

JANUARY
ServSafe Food Handlers certification
Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Date: Friday, January 17
Place: The Salvation Army of Waukesha County, 445 Madison St., Waukesha, WI
Details: This class is important for anyone who wants to volunteer at events where we serve food or hot chocolate, and also if you ever want to deploy for a national disaster with The Salvation Army.
Disaster Food Service & Canteen Operations training
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Date: Saturday, January 18
Place: The Salvation Army of Waukesha County, 445 Madison St., Waukesha, WI
Details: This class is required for anyone who wants to volunteer at events where we serve food or hot chocolate, and also if you ever want to deploy for a national disaster with The Salvation Army.
FEBRUARY
Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters (Day 1)
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date: Saturday, February 29
Place: Racine Corps Community Center, 1901 Washington Ave. Racine, WI
Details: This is a 2-day course. This class is required for anyone who wants to become a chaplain.
MARCH
Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters (Day 2)
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date: Saturday, March 7
Place: Racine Corps Community Center, 1901 Washington Ave. Racine, WI
Details: This is a 2-day course. This class is required for anyone who wants to become a chaplain.
Introduction to Disaster Services
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Date: Tuesday, March 10
Place: The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Divisional Headquarters, 11315 W. Watertown Plank Road, Wauwatosa, WI
Details: This class is required for anyone who wants to deploy for a national disaster with The Salvation Army.
Spiritual & Psychological First Aid
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date: Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21
