The Salvation Army’s Army Lake Camp To Celebrate 100th Anniversary
EAST TROY, WI - The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan’s Army Lake Camp, located in East Troy, WI, will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Saturday, July 16.
In honor of this centennial milestone, a full day of activities and programs are planned for past, present and future campers, as well as guests.
“Over the past 100 years, Army Lake Camp has provided many people with the opportunity to vacation and escape city life,” said Major Steve Merritt, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. “Families and children who would otherwise be unable to afford a vacation could attend Army Lake and learn about God and country through music, scouting and lessons from nature.”
The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m. at Army Lake Camp, N8725 Army Lake Rd. East Troy, WI 53120.
“Many relationships that started at Army Lake Camp have lasted for generations,” Merritt said. “We honor those from the past who made this opportunity possible and all of those who had a hand in safeguarding this beautiful resource over the years.”
The schedule is as follows:
1 p.m.: Registration
1 to 5 p.m.: Afternoon activities where guests can participate in pontoon rides, wagon rides, archery, high ropes, rock climbing, swimming, paintball, clay shooting, hatchet throwing, zipline, kayaking and volleyball.
5:15 p.m.: Flag lowering
5 to 6:30 p.m.: Picnic and program
7 to 8:30 p.m.: 100 Year Celebration Program
9 to 10 p.m.: Campfire
“We look forward to many more years of enjoyment and connection with our Creator at beautiful Army Lake Camp,” Merritt said.
