Top local leader to throw first pitch, band to play National Anthem
MILWAUKEE -- The Salvation Army will be featured at Miller Park on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Major Steven Merritt, the Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army's Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at the Milwaukee Brewers game.
"I am looking forward to my pitching debut," Merritt said. "I'm hoping to throw a strike."
Immediately following, The Salvation Army's CMI Band will perform the National Anthem. The brass band is made up of almost 200 students and faculty from the Central Music Institute, The Salvation Army's most advanced summer music camp.
The Brewers will take on the Minnesota Twins at 7:10 p.m.

About Central Music Institute (CMI)
Central Music Institute, otherwise known as CMI, is the most advanced of The Salvation Army's summer music camps. It allows students (minimum age 13) to apply what they have learned from regional camps and conservatories in a stimulating environment. It is held at The Salvation Army's Camp Wonderland, near Chicago, IL, in August of each year. This camp caters to all learning levels, from advanced musicians to those just beginning the journey. The institute is designed to enhance students' musical abilities and help them discover ways to use their talents to further the Kingdom of God. CMI offers the opportunity to have fun, fellowship, grow and learn in an exciting Christian environment. Also included in the curriculum are advanced studies in theory, instrumental, vocal, drama, dance, Bible, media and all related worship arts.
