Training for Boys and Girls in Safe Babysitting Skills

One Day Salvation Army Course (8-hours) just $25 per person

Waukesha, WI (March 16, 2019) –  The Waukesha County Salvation Army is offering an official Safe Sitter ® course for young boys and girls age 11-14, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 to teach safe and appropriate babysitting skills.

The course provides hands-on practice in practical lifesaving techniques so that young people have the confidence to act swiftly and decisively in an emergency, explained Cheri Winchowky, director of Youth Ministry.

More than 600,000 young people have graduated nationally from the medically accurate program, which teaches how, why and where injuries happen so they can be prevented.

"The course is extremely useful not only for those training to be babysitters, but also for those young people who may be home alone or whose general duties include watching younger siblings," Winchowky said.

The class will take place from 9:00am to 4:30pm, includees lunch, and results in a certificate upon successful completion. The cost is just $25 per student, and scholarships are available for those who can show need.

Interested parents or guardians should call either Winchowky or Caroline Remmers at 262-547-7367, or email either at cheri_winchowky@usc.salvationarmy.org, or caroline_remmers@usc.salvationarmy.org
