Waukesha County Salvation Army Red Kettles Start November 15th
Groups Needed: Volunteer at RegisterToRing.com -- Fifty County Locations
(Waukesha) . . . With a five week goal to raise $800,000 through both a direct mail appeal and dozens of familiar Red Kettles at key locations, The Salvation Army Waukesha County is inviting groups to sign up for volunteer two-and-three hour shifts at fifty convenient Red Kettle retail spots in communities countywide.
“The math is easy, with fifty Red Kettles, attended eight-to-ten hours per day by a bell ringer, for six days each week, from November 15th through 3:00 pm Christmas Eve, we have roughly 15,000 hours to fill. We look for cheerful, community-minded volunteers whose motivation is to help others in need at Christmastime. We have a realistic and do-able goal for 2019 of $800,000,” said co-CEO, Major Teri Nauta. “Thanksgiving is very late this year on November 28th, so we have fewer days to ring and consequently need even more volunteers than usual. Watch for Red Kettles starting November 15th!”
The Salvation Army Waukesha County is celebrating its 125th year of local service. It uses the monies raised in the Red Kettle and Christmas direct mail campaigns for many purposes: to alleviate hunger through its large food pantry, hot community meal and Feed The Kids programs; to provide safe lodging to forty-to-fifty homeless men per night year-round; to respond with its mobile kitchen to emergencies, fires and weather disasters; to operate a summer-long Day Camp program for youth; to provide scholarships to a rural, lakeside residential camp; to operate both a women’s and a youth ministry; to operate a Christmastime TOY SHOP for needy families; and, to offer weekly Christian education and worship services.
