GREEN BAY - On Monday, December 24, the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation will provide a needed boost of energy to the end of The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Campaign by matching all Red Kettle donations up to $10,000.
The match comes on the final day that bell ringers and Red Kettles will be at local store fronts for the 2018 season. The WPS Foundation’s matching gift will provide needed support to the social service organization’s annual Christmas Campaign, which is currently short of the 2018 fundraising goal of $1.25 million.
“The WPS Foundation is proud to support organizations that exemplify the spirit of the holiday season through their work to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve,” said Lana Vandervest, administrator of the WPS Foundation. “We hope our matching donation allows the Salvation Army to surpass its fundraising goal and continue bringing joy to those in need in northeast Wisconsin in 2019.”
As part of the WPS Foundation’s pledge to match Saturday’s Red Kettle donations, employees from the energy company will volunteer as bell ringers at the Big Red Kettle at Bay Park Square Mall from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm that day.
“This $10,000 match from the WPS Foundation is a true blessing as we close out the Red Kettle season,” said Captain Matt O’Neil, County Coordinator for The Salvation Army. “We are very thankful to the WPS employees who are generously donating their time to ring bells. A Red Kettle without a bell ringer is typically an empty kettle. Their volunteerism magnifies the impact of this match day.”
Additionally, the WPS Chorus, made up of company employees, family members and retirees, will perform from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the piano located near the former Younker’s entrance of Bay Park Square and encourage shoppers to make Red Kettle donations.
