The Salvation Army helps make families whole.

The Salvation Army believes in meeting the basic needs of individuals and families, young and old.


These basic needs include food, clothing, shelter and household needs. While meeting the physical needs, The Salvation Army staff also offer hope and guidance to those coming in for services.

How we help equip families

Christmas Toys Distribution
Our Toy Distribution Event is held the second week of December each year. Appointments are required and limited time slots are available. Calumet County families who meet income guidelines are eligible. Please visit the Salvation Army, Bread of Life Assistance Center in Chilton to apply and get an appointment time. Application deadline is December 6 or until appointments are filled. Hours are Monday 3:00 - 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8:30 - 11:30 am. *NOTE: The office is CLOSED the Thursday before our Toy Distribution, so Wednesday is the last day to sign up. Back to School Supplies Distribution
Any school age child (Kindergarten through 12th Grade) residing in Calumet County or southern Manitowoc County may be eligible to receive free school supplies. Applications can also be picked up at The Salvation Army, Bread of Life Assistance Center, 16 West Main Street in Chilton. The Distribution event takes place in August each year, at least one week prior to the start of school.

Coats for Kids Distribution
Our Coats for Kids Distribution Event is held in mid-November each year. Appointments are required and limited time slots are available. Families who are Calumet County residents and meet income guidelines are eligible. Please visit the Salvation Army, Bread of Life Assistance Center at 16 West Main Street in Chilton to apply and get an appointment time. Hours are Monday 3:00 - 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8:30 - 11:30 am. Call with questions 920-849-7856.

Birthday Club
Any family that is qualified for our Food Pantry, is eligible for our Birthday Program. Visit the food pantry during your child's birthday month, and they will receive a special birthday package including cake mix, frosting, candles, balloons and a small gift. 

Emergency Financial Assistance
Emergency Financial assistance is offered, depending on your specific need. Call 920-849-7856 to schedule an appointment to see if you qualify.

Depending on funding available, we are also able to assist with household goods, furniture, clothing, and hygiene products. Each service has eligibility requirements, such as residency and/or proof of identification. Some services have time limits and income eligibility requirements. All requests for assistance are handled by appointment.
