     Please support our "Rock The Red Kettle of HOPE"

Rocking the Red Kettle of HOPE with a donation of $5.00 or more will help people 365 days a year with the basic needs of shelter, food and clothing, water, heat and utilities, all necessary for children and families to remain healthy and safe. 

Coats for Kids Celebrates 31 Years!

Help keep a child warm this winter by donating a gently used or new coat beginning October 4 through November 3.  Local Genesee County area collection sites include; ABC 12, Troy Cleaners at all of their locations, Skaff Carpet,  Hurley Medical Center, The Salvation Army Business Office, Suski Chevrolet/Buick, Ralph Burgess,DDS in Flint,  WJRT, Baker College of Flint (Student Center), Oreck Vacuums at Somerset Town Center, U of M Public Safety, Genesee Valley Mall, Miracle-Ear, City of Flint Police, Guido’s Premium Pizza, General Optical (Burton & Flint locations), Flint City Hall lobby, Riverfront Optical, Play It Again Sports, and  all Bigsby Coffee Shops in Genesee County.

To apply for Genesee County Christmas Assistance and coat vouchers, the sign up dates are as follows:

Wednesday, October 25 from 9:00am to 2:00pm

Thursday, October 26 extended hours 9:00am to 7:00pm

Friday, October 27 from 9:00am to 2:00pm

Necessary Application  Paperwork for Coats, Toys or Food (You can apply for all services)

  • Michigan I.D. and Social Security Cards for ALL adults in the household. CASE SUMMARY FROM DHHS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
  • Proof of dependents in the home - Birth Certificates and Social Security Cards. Must be parents or provide proof of legal guardianship. CASE SUMMARY FROM DHHS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS BIRTH RECORD AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD
  • Current Bills for the last 30 days – Bills must contain the name and address of the individual applying for assistance. Current bills include Rent, Mortgage, Water, Gas, Electric, Telephone, Cable, etc. SALVATION ARMY WILL PRINT WATER OR CONSUMERS ENERGY BILLS ON SITE, IF NEEDED
  • Proof of Income for the last 30 days - Pay stubs, Child Support Statement, Social Security, SSI, SSDI, Unemployment/Workman’s Comp, etc. NOTICE OF CASE ACTION (from DHHS) WILL BE ACCEPTED AS INCOME STATEMENT (statement cannot be more than 6 months old)

MID-Michgan Locations: For coats, please contact your local Salvation Army serving your county.

In Midland County, boxes can be found at the Midland Mall, Tim Horton's locations, Dani B's Studio for Hair, Blessed Sacrament School, Dow Chemical Employee's Credit Union, Midland Community Center, Dollar Daze, McArdle's Pontiac Cadillac GMC, and Mid-Town Pawn & Buy Back Center.

Coats can be dropped off in Saginaw County at Once Upon A Child, Johnson's Giant Pumpkin Farm, Tim Horton/s (all locations), Suski Chevrolet Buick, Family Dollar, Deluxe Cleaners, Child and Family Services, Victorian Purses by Sue Yarn & Bead Destination, Birch Run Mall, WIOG, Riverfront Eyecare, and Maria's Mexican Restaurant. ***Special collection 2 days- October 20th and 21st at the Birch Run Expo, Women2Women Expo event.

Bay County locations include Tim Horton's, Copoco Credit Union, The Salvation Army Business Office, Clayton Cleaners, Bay City Mall, Save-A-Lot, Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Bay County Library, all Catholic Federal Credit Union branches, all Chemical Bank branches, Financial Edge Credit Union branches, Independent Bank branches, Prince of Peace Parish, Sunrise Credit Union, Sweet Boutique, Thumb National Bank branches, Wildfire Credit Union, and the MSP-Tri-City Post.

Donations in Shiawassee County can be made at Ruthy’s Cleaners, the Salvation Army Business Office, Biggby Coffee, Fosters Coffee Company, the YMCA, Baker College, and Team One Credit Union.

Coats can also be brought over to the Outlets at West Branch in Ogemaw County
