Grace Place Empowers children

Last year, School Districts in St. Croix County reported 170 homeless Students who were enrolled in our schools.

Students who are homeless face a variety of challenges, including a quiet place and a routine that is conducive to doing homework and making achievement in their academics. At Grace Place, we try to help our youngest residents by providing a volunteer lead tutoring program to help our children achieve academic goals.

How we help empower youth

Grace Place Shelter is unique in that we house people of all ages.  Our youngest resident is a newborn baby and we serve men and women all the way up into old age.  Homelessness does not affect just one age group and it can happen to anybody.  When a child becomes homeless it creates a new set of challenges in the way of ensuring the child can heal through the traumatic process of becoming homeless and finding stability.  At Grace Place, we try to serve children through tutoring, activities, faith building and fun!  We hope to bring stability and reassurance to the children through various activities and programming.

Tutoring Program
Grace Place currently hosts tutoring for our school aged children after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's.  Our learning center is staffed with retired teachers who are committed to making sure the children complete their homework, study for tests and have the necessary tools they need to be successful at school.  We have found this program builds confidence and brings lots of smiles.  If you are a retired teacher who is interested in serving this way, please call us.

Children Activities
Many local organizations are welcomed into the shelter to do special activities with the kids who stay at Grace Place.  Games, Crafts, Music and More are all apart of the way we try to ensure that Grace Place is a fun place for kids to be while their family heals.

Bible Programming
Grace Place believes that showing the love of Christ to our youngest residents is an important way we can serve our families.  We have many partnerships with local churches who invite our residents to VBS, Wednesday night activities and more.  Just this past year, we were a location site for Child Evangelism's 5 day Club.  We are so excited to be able to partner with so many great churches.
