Partners in Doing the Most Good

The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone.

We Need Your Help!

Volunteers help meet the needs of our community. Whether you want to volunteer on your own, with a group, or with your office, just once, once a week, or more than that, read below for our most urgent, current volunteer needs.

For more information or to sign up, please contact Jon Curtis, Volunteer Coordinator, at 517.484.4424 or via email at jon.curtis@usc.salvationarmy.org.

South Corps Food Pantry | Food insecurity is at an all-time high in the greater Lansing area. The Salvation Army Lansing Capital Area has 2 food pantry locations to help fill the gap; the Citadel location on Pennsylvania Avenue, and the South location on Jolly Road. To better meet the needs of our community and help solve the problem of hunger, our South location (701 W. Jolly Road) is expanding it's Pantry days from just one day a week, to 4 days a week. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help in the South Food Pantry, Tuesdays through Fridays, from 9:00-12:00, and 1:00-4:00, beginning Tuesday, August 17.

For more information or to sign up, please contact Jon Curtis, Volunteer Coordinator, at 517.484.4424 or via email at jon.curtis@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Dinner at the SAL | Each Wednesday and Friday, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, we offer a take-out style dinner for our community at the South Corps location at 701 W. Jolly Rd. Volunteers can help prepare food in our kitchen, box food to be given out, serve families when they come to pick up dinner, or help with clean up. The need for nutritious, hot meals is greater now than ever, and with your help we can help keep our community fed.

Volunteers are the Heart of our Team

The service and commitment of our volunteers enable The Salvation Army to:

Reach out to those facing hardship in our communities.

Be a place of love and support for children.

Make the holidays a time of joy for those in need.

Provide food to families facing a shortage.

Even the smallest tasks, like helping with office or kitchen work, support our mission and help change lives in our community. We can't do it without you!

Thank you for helping us make our community a place of hope!
