Fall Youth and Family Nights

Sep 8, 2025

Every Tuesday evening in the fall, the Salvation Army in Traverse City fills with laughter, music, and community spirit. Families arrive just as the leaves outside start to turn, and kids rush toward the activities—brass band practice, ukulele and guitar lessons, crafts, dodgeball, and even a quick game of 9 Square or basketball.

At 5:15 p.m., everyone gathers together for “The Gathering,” a time of connection before dinner is served. Soon after, the aroma of a shared meal fills the space, drawing families, teens, and adults into one large, welcoming circle. From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., kids take part in character-building activities, teens find encouragement and fun in their own group, and adults share conversation, friendship, and support.

It’s more than just a weekly program—it’s a chance for neighbors to grow closer, for young people to explore their talents, and for families to feel the strength of community. As the banner says, it’s a Free Fall Youth & Family Night, where everyone is welcome, and everyone belongs.
