The Salvation Army Traverse City will Light Up The Community Center
during the Final Red Kettle Matching Monday, December 20.

December 19, 2021 Traverse City, MI: Monday, December 20, is the final Red Kettle Matching Monday for The Salvation Army Traverse City $30,000 matching gift challenge. Thanks to the generosity of the community they have raised $19,277.85 to date.

To celebrate the final Red Kettle Matching Monday and shine a light on needs in the community and supporters providing a beacon of hope, The Salvation Army will light up the Community Center at 1239 Barlow St. on Monday night from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a drive through Red Kettle donation opportunity. They will have festive lights, decorated lighted vehicles, caroling, hot chocolate, and treats.

Lieutenant Matthew Winters said, “The Salvation Army is a light of hope to our neighbors when it is needed most. Every donation and blessing shared by our community neighbors is a gift. Not just toys under the tree Christmas morning, but the gift of a warm safe home, a hot meal, a prayer answered in a time of crisis, the gift of knowing you are not alone. Every penny, nickel dime, quarter, and dollar donated gives us the opportunity to provide our neighbors who are facing struggles with the physical, emotional, and spiritual care and resources needed.”

“The needs in the community continue to be high with rising costs of food, gas and heat”, explained Lieutenant Matthews. “We are humbled by the outpouring of support by the community who have embraced those struggling and vulnerable with love. We invite everyone to stop by Monday night to not only show their support but to enjoy some Christmas joy," said Lt. Matthew Winters.

All proceeds from The Red Kettle campaign stay in our community – when donors give locally, they are helping real people in our community. When people give change at a Red Kettle, they join help to ensure that Hope Marches On through local Salvation Army programs.
