December 6, 2020 Traverse City, MI: The Salvation Army Traverse City is excited to announce a matching gift challenge to the Red Kettle campaign. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, Red Kettle donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $30,000 during Matching Mondays - December 7, 14 and 21, 2020.
Lieutenant Matthew Winters explained, “The need for assistance continues to rise as individuals and families are impacted by personal and financial crisis. At the same time, due to fewer red kettle locations and volunteers, consumers carrying less cash and coins, and the decline in foot traffic, The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is facing a decrease in critical funds to meet the increase in in demand for services.
This incredible $30,000 matching challenge gift means that every penny, nickel, dime, quarter and dollar bill put in a Traverse City Salvation Army Red Kettle during Matching Monday is doubled because there is no minimum or maximum donation amount. It means double the impact to provide meaningful gifts: the gift of a warm meal, a toy, a safe warm home and the priceless gift of hope for someone in our community who is struggling during this challenging time."
Winters said, "All proceeds from our The Red Kettle campaign stay in our community – when donors give locally, they are helping real people in our community. When people give change at a Red Kettle, they join the Fight for Good through local Salvation Army programs.
We are once again humbled by this matching challenge gift. Our Red Kettle campaign goal this year is $180,000. We need the communities’ support once again to maximize this gift and maximize programs and services in the community through financial donations and just as importantly through the gift of time to bell ring. Together, we can Rescue Christmas and bring hope in 2021.”
How easy is it to help The Salvation Army meet the $30,000 matching challenge and double your donation during Matching Monday’s now through December 21.
