“Love Beyond' Red Kettle Campaign Kicks off Friday, November 11
TRAVERSE CITY, MI (November 10, 2022): The Salvation Army of Traverse City is launching its 128th annual Red Kettle campaign, Friday, November 11 at Oleson’s Long Lake Food Store, to raise funds to support its critical programs that help vulnerable community members this Christmas and Beyond.
The Red Kettle Campaign goal is $230,000. All proceeds raised stay local to provide Christmas gifts & Holiday food baskets, health and nutrition through the Community Meals, Free food market and food pantry, safe warm shelter, utility, and emergency financial assistance as well as youth and family strengthening programs to those who are struggling to make ends meet and so much more.
“The challenges we are seeing people confronted with are unprecedented. Families are finding themselves facing financial circumstances that are impacting their health, housing, safety, livelihood, and emotional well-being.
Our, “Love Beyond,” theme summarizes The Salvation Army’s core value of spreading hope. We invite the community to join us to love beyond - hunger, crisis, eviction, loneliness, and tough times. The Salvation Army is committed to providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual care of our neighbors who turn to us, not just during the Christmas season but 365 days a year.” said Lieutenant Matthew Winters.
“With requests for food assistance increasing 400% in recent months and emergency financial assistance rising over 100%, we clearly see the impact the economy is having on community members. This also holds true to us as an organization with increased food prices to provide community meals and keeping the food pantry stocked as well as basic operational necessities.”
“If you need assistance please reach out. If you can help thank you for reaching within and coming alongside us to make Christmas bright and bring hope in 2023.” Lieutenant Winters added.
Red Kettles will be out from November 11 through Christmas Eve at 14 business locations throughout Grand Traverse with bell ringers spreading joy and collecting donations, Monday – Saturday.
