Some of the residents who will stay in our shelter may have struggled with addiction.
One of the primary goals during a stay with us is staying sober and avoiding alcohol and drugs.
In the past we have helped many people with their sobriety. In one of our Polk County programs, a resident was facing having to exit the program due to continuing to use alcohol. He had attempted to stay sober three different times in our programs, the fourth time he finally agreed to go to treatment through the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. He has been sober since and has regained his independence. He is thankful for the staff who encouraged him to get sober and on a better path. He has been sober for more than 3 years.
Staying in our shelters means staying drug and alcohol-free.
