The Salvation Army of Calumet County, Bread of Life Assistance Center was founded in 1998. Our ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 by a Methodist street preacher named William Booth. He worked with people in the slums of East London. In 1880, The Salvation Army began work in the United States and in a few short years the ministry of The Salvation Army spread across the country.
During World War II, The Salvation Army operated 3,000 service units for the armed forces...and led in the formation of the USO. Since World War II, the Army has continued its own worldwide program.
Today The Salvation Army continues to work where the need is greatest, motivated by its faith in God and its love for all people. The Salvation Army is now serving 'the least of these' in over 125 countries.

Adrianna Hilbelink, Director
My name is Adrianna. I started at The Salvation Army, Bread of Life Assistance Center in August of 2016. Wow, what a busy time of year to join our Salvation Army family, but God's timing is always perfect. I have been blessed to see God continuously, at work in our community. Each and every family that walks through our door is such a blessing and has touched my heart.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
