SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Oct. 24, 2019) – Detroit hip-hop and R & B radio station 97.9 WJLB will be raising money and collecting coats and gloves during its 36th annual Coats for Kids fundraiser, benefiting The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Allegiant Nonstop Entertainment Complex, located at 28300 Dequindre Rd. in Warren.

Anyone who donates a coat or cash will receive a play card for one hour of free activity that includes go-karts, laser tag, mini golf, arcade games and more. The event will also include musical performances by local, regional and national artists, as well as an appearance by the Detroit Lions’ mascot, Roary.

Listeners who are not able to attend Coats for Kids can still support the cause by donating online at salmich.org/events/coats-for-kids-2019.

“Michigan winters are harsh and cold, but luckily for families in need in southeast Michigan, there are people in our community who are warm and giving,” said Major Tim Meyer, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “We are grateful to work with WJLB to make sure no child in southeast Michigan gets left out in the cold this holiday season.”

Families in need of winter coats and accessories for their children this season can contact their local Salvation Army corps community center for assistance. A complete listing of locations is available at www.salmich.org or by calling 248-443-5500.

The 2019 Coats for Kids fundraiser is sponsored by Allegiant Nonstop and Ford Motor Company Fund.
