The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit Welcomes Herman Moore As 2020 Red Kettle Campaign Corporate Chairperson

Oct 14, 2020

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Oct. 14, 2020)The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is pleased to announce Team 84, LLC’s Principal and Chief Executive Officer Herman Moore as the nonprofit’s 2020 Red Kettle Campaign Corporate Chairperson. Mr. Moore also serves as president of The Herman Moore Tackle Life Foundation, a Michigan-based nonprofit committed to preparing adolescents for the future.

The legendary Lions wide receiver, who spent 11 seasons in Detroit, will act as the nonprofit’s public face for the Campaign by raising awareness and encouraging the public to Rescue Christmas and reach the $8 million Red Kettle fundraising goal.

“I am honored to be working alongside The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit during the 2020 Red Kettle Campaign,” said Moore. “I’ve spent so much of my life in Detroit, and I’ve experienced firsthand the generosity of our community. I also know how great the need is for our most vulnerable citizens, and The Salvation Army is always there to support anyone who needs it. My team and I are excited to partner with The Salvation Army to help Rescue Christmas. In a year filled with uncertainty, it’s our goal to make sure metro Detroiters know they can always turn to The Salvation Army.”

Moore is playing a critical role in The Salvation Army’s virtual fundraising efforts this year as well. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers and supporters can virtually bellring or choose to host a virtual Red Kettle, and Moore is leading that effort by hosting his own virtual kettle and encouraging the community to do the same. Salvation Army advocates can support Moore’s virtual kettle or create their own by visiting salmich.org/RescueChristmas.

“We can’t say enough how excited and grateful we are to bring Mr. Moore and his team aboard for our 2020 Red Kettle Campaign,” said Major Timothy Meyer, general secretary, metro Detroit area commander and chief operating officer of The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “The Salvation Army would not be able to Rescue Christmas and support hundreds of thousands of metro Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens if not for our partners and volunteers at places such as Team 84, LLC and Team Business Solutions. With their help, our ability to raise the funds needed to feed and shelter those who need it the most increases substantially.”

Following a successful 12-year career in the National Football League, Moore retired from professional football in 2002. He went on to earn accolades off the field as an NFL analyst, promotional products vendor, Cinnabon franchisee, consultant to corporate and nonprofit clients and Crain’s Detroit Business 40 under 40 honoree in 2003. Moore founded The Herman Moore Tackle Life Foundation in 2011, Team 84, LLC in 2013, Team Business Solutions in 2018 and Team 84 Staffing in 2019.

The Salvation Army’s ability to raise vital funds to serve those in need is at risk this year due to the impact and economic hardships caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Supporters can Rescue Christmas throughout the 2020 Red Kettle Campaign by donating or volunteering their time this Christmas season to aid The Salvation Army reach its $8 million fundraising goal. All funds raised will directly benefit communities throughout Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
