The Salvation Army to Host Grand Opening for Family Thrift Store in East Tawas

EAST TAWAS, Mich.,  – East Tawas residents will soon have a new way to save while they shop.

The Salvation Army will host a grand opening ribbon cutting for a new Family Thrift Store located at 1702 North US 23, in East Tawas at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, just in time for the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Community members are invited to join representatives from The Salvation Army and the Tawas Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. The store will then remain open for bargain hunters until 7 p.m. Grand opening festivities will include The Salvation Army brass band ensemble, a Salvation Army canteen serving coffee and donuts, and balloons for the kids.

After the grand opening, regular store hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The store will feature a unique inventory of donations from friends of The Salvation Army and other Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores from around Michigan, and is currently accepting donations in preparation for opening day. Donations may be dropped off around the back of the building.

“The East Tawas Family Thrift Store will have a tremendous impact on the community,” said Matthew Rowland, Director of Service Extension for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “We are proud to say that the store’s revenue will stay in the community and help provide crucial social services to those in need.”
