CenterPoint Energy Foundation Grant Announcement
The Salvation Army of Evansville is excited to announce a grant award from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation of $25,000 in support of its Pathway of Hope program. This innovative program serves families in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey counties, with the goal of changing the lives of both parents and children.
Pathway of Hope becomes a family’s support system and helps parents achieve goals in the areas of education, employment, mental health, parenting, and more. Because the program focuses on the unique needs of each family, parents can work toward self-sufficiency and be an example to their children as they break the cycles and habits of generational poverty.
With two families graduating from the program this week and four more families joining, funds from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation will be a key part in continuing to serve families into 2025.
Families who have participated in The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope program have reported many positive outcomes, including:
• Improved parenting skills
• Improved mental health
• Improved employment (higher pay rate and better work culture)
• Increased stability for themselves and their family
• Increased ability to cope and handle life's challenges and stressors
One Pathway of Hope participant shared their thoughts on the program with coordinators:
"I’ve struggled with addiction and mental health issues for so long I just couldn’t see a way out. I’ve lost friends, family and so much because of this mess. But the Pathway of Hope program gave me the motivation and drive to change all of it…I’m sober, working, and I have my kids back… I never thought I could do it, but The Salvation Army believed in me and I’m so thankful!"
