The Evansville Salvation Army provides community-based programming and social services plus worship opportunities on Sundays and throughout the week. We have a core team of employees who handle essential jobs and functions, but we rely upon volunteers to help run various weekly programs and events. Without volunteers our programs wouldnt be able to function and we could not help as many people as we do.
Majors Jason and Mary Poff-- Corps Officers and SW Indiana Coordinator. Officers are the lead directors and leaders over the local Salvation Army location. They offer leadership and direction to our programs. In addition, they also preach and offer spiritual guidance and leadership to The Salvation Army church congregation.
We offer many programs for those in need in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties. Here are just a few examples of what we do: help with paying past due bills, serving warm meals and groceries, spiritual programs and guidance, youth programming for school aged children,a donatiuon exchange program to connect donors with clients who need items, and holiday specific assistance. Some programs we are dreaming about start are a community center to offer sports programs for local kids, an after school program for neighborhood kids, and perhaps a future thrift store, although we don't have one currently.
