The Weekly Word: Leading to New Hope
Thank you to our Divisional Commander, Major Kelly Collins for sharing her thoughts during the start of this Lenten season and transition into spring.
Wherefore art thou?
How long and gloomy winter can seem. It causes one’s spirit to languish at times. To some, it may even exacerbate already waning hope. But we, in The Salvation Army, want to be beacons of hope.
- To the mom who doesn’t know where to begin to climb out of generational poverty, we offer hope through our Social Ministries in our Pathway of Hope program.
- To the homeless man without shelter, we offer hope by providing food and a roof over his head.
- To the family who just lost everything in a flood, we offer hope through our Emergency Disaster Services.
- To the lonely person who is left alone day in and day out, we offer hope through a church family who will love them.
To anyone who feels hopeless, The Salvation Army is there to shine a beacon of hope that we have found in Jesus Christ. A hope that will be celebrated soon as the world remembers the hopelessness felt at the crucifixion of Jesus, the Messiah, one dark Friday, which was overcome by eternal hope and joy at His resurrection on Sunday.
So, if you find yourself feeling hopeless, take comfort in the words of the Apostle Paul...
