We desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, wherever and whenever we can.

The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible, our ministry is motivated by the love of God, and our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ as we meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Every program we offer is rooted in our passion to serve God by serving the vulnerable, the needy, the poor, the hurting, the lost and helpless and the hopeless.

"I'm grateful for how God has worked everything out for us. I'm thankful to The Salvation Army."

God works in our lives so that The Salvation Army may work in yours.

How we help share God's love:

Prayer Walks
All are invited to walk & pray through the neighborhood, allowing the Spirit to lead and guide, Fridays from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. We will meet at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center at 4800 Harrison Street in Gary to walk through our neighborhood and pray for the needs of our neighbors. Prayer prompts will be given.

Men's, Women's and Youth Ministries
Ministry groups provide opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship. The groups plan projects, events, retreats and experiences to improve their communities and promote a closeness to God.

  • EmbraceWe desire to be known, to be heard, to be accepted, to be welcomed and to be loved. This is why The Salvation Army Central Territory launched Embrace. We felt and heard the need of women to be connected to a community that accepts them where they are in life. This "women only" program meets once per month. Dinner is provided for free and there is a different theme for discussion each month.

Music & Gospel Arts
The Salvation Army is the largest music educator in the world, and uses music in praise and worship. There are numerous classes offered and a musical ensemble dedicated to gospel arts.

  • Creative Arts Night - Every Wednesday youth in grades 1-12 have dinner, beginner music lessons, choir and a creative art class. Registration Required.
    • 5:30 - 6:00 Dinner
    • 6:00 - 6:35 Beginner Band/Ukulele
    • 6:40 - 7:05 Choir
    • 7:10 - 7:30 Creative Art Practice
