Tune into The Salvation Army's Radiothon for Kids
One-Day Fundraiser Scheduled for Aug. 28 on WYCD-FM
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., –On Friday, Aug. 28, 99.5 WYCD will host its inaugural Salvation Army Radiothon for Kids to benefit metro Detroit children in need from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. WYCD personalities will broadcast live at the Bass Pro Shop located at 4500 Baldwin Rd. in Auburn Hills from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Listeners are encouraged to donate to The Salvation Army by calling 877-SAL-MICH or by visiting www.salmich.org.
“During these hard times, many parents find it difficult to make ends meet,” said Captain Deon Oliver, divisional youth secretary for The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. “The Salvation Army is able to help them lighten the load by providing children with the basic necessities such as food, education, character building and recreation programs.”
The money raised during The Salvation Army’s Radiothon for Kids will be used to give children what they need the most. No matter the donation, every dollar can make a difference. With a $20 donation, The Salvation Army can provide a healthy snack to a child in the afterschool program for six months. For a $50 donation a child will receive a backpack, school supplies and a warm coat to help them focus on education. For a $100 donation you will give a child a safe place to go by sponsoring a month of after school programming.
As part of the Radiothon, there will be a variety of fun activities for the public at the Great Lakes Crossing Bass Pro Shop including archery, paint ball, casting and more.
“Given the hard times so many families in metro Detroit have fallen in, we’re proud to do our part,” said Debbie Kenyon, VP/CBS Radio Detroit market manager. “Our listeners always do whatever they can to support such a worthy cause and we know they’ll be with us throughout this important event.”
