EmergencyDisaster Services providing support to responders

WAYNE, Mich., - The Salvation Army's EmergencyDisaster Services (EDS) team is providing aid at the site of William C. Franksfurniture store in Wayne, where one person was found seriously injured earlierthis morning and two others are still trapped inside the wreckage.

The Salvation Army's EDS team isproviding hydration, food and other aid from one mobile canteen to approximately150 individuals from response crews. EDS Director George Aren, who is also acertified Detroit fire chaplain, is on site leading the efforts.

The Salvation Army willremain as long as necessary, with the primary focus being to provide food andwater for emergency personnel on site.

The Salvation Army responds tocalls for help from local law enforcement and becomes part of the EmergencyOperation Center set up in times of disaster.  The Salvation Army's emergency staff and volunteers aretrained both in food service and Critical Incident Stress Management.
