Andretti Global Donates More than 250 Coats to The Salvation Army Central Indiana
Andretti Global has made a significant contribution to The Salvation Army of Central Indiana, providing over 250 coats, hats, and scarves to support those in need of warmth this winter. This generous donation from the racing team couldn't have come at a better moment, considering the frigid temperatures.
The items were collected during Andretti Global’s fan event on January 10th where the team encouraged its fans to bring a hat or coat for their donation drive benefiting The Salvation Army. The response from both the Andretti team and its fans was remarkable.
“This donation from the Andretti team is so gracious and their fans are incredible for donating at their fan event,” said Major Shannon Martinez, The Salvation Army of Eagle Creek. “This is helping our community in a huge way this winter.”
The Andretti team along with IndyCar driver and 2022 Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson and NXT Driver James Roe Jr. delivered the donated coats and scarfs. They visited The Salvation Army Eagle Creek where the coats will be distributed throughout the winter season. The diverse coat sizes will help us serve anyone who comes to us needing a coat.
“Anytime you can donate to charity or a good cause like The Salvation Army is always what we want to do,” said Roe Jr. “To be giving them Andretti merch is even cooler.”
During the visit, both drivers toured the Eagle Creek Corps and Community Center, getting to learn the various services provided including the Food Pantry. They witnessed firsthand the impact of The Salvation Army on families seeking food assistance.
“It’s super important what The Salvation Army does,” said Ericsson. “They do so much for people and the community and for us to help out in some way means a lot.”
Andretti Global wanted to help the community more after seeing Eagle Creek Corps. The racing team stepped up again to make a second donation of coats, sweaters and hats, which will be handed out from Fountain Square Corps this winter for families needing warmth.
