The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center Celebrates 75 years of Service
The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center has helped Hoosiers across the state of Indiana regain hope and experience transformation for 75 years. Established with a mission to aid individuals struggling with addiction, the center has remained faithful to their calling.
The Harbor Light Center has shined its light on thousands of people who have gone through several of the Center’s programs which include addiction services, transitional housing, supportive services and spiritual development. Guiding clients through each program are compassionate professionals who truly see people for who they are regardless of their struggles.
“We have physicians, nurse practitioners, licensed counselors and case managers who help these individuals struggling with addiction,” said Dr. Alicia Hoskins, Executive Director of Harbor Light Center. “Our diverse and experienced team collaboratively work together to provide personalized care and support tailored to the unique needs of each client.”
At the heart of the Harbor Light Center's success is its commitment to its core values. With its focus firmly on its mission, “to meet human needs in His name without discrimination,” the Harbor Light Center has created a supportive and nurturing environment.
“We are very proud of our track record as we are seeing an impressive 85% resident success rate in programs and a remarkable 94% client satisfaction rate this year,” said Hoskins. “These numbers show the effectiveness and impact of our programs and services.”
Over the years, the Harbor Light Center has witnessed countless stories of transformation. Individuals have emerged from the program with renewed strength and resilience. Through the support of dedicated staff and volunteers, many have gone on to break free from the cycle of addiction and building brighter futures for themselves and their loved ones.
“Harbor Light helped me form a relationship with God. I realized that’s what I was missing,” said Ikeath, a former Harbor Light Center client. “As I restart my life outside of the center, I plan to return to volunteer. The people at Harbor Light changed my life.”
The center offers a full continuum of Addiction Treatment Services and a Transitional Housing Program for adults ages 18+ including a broad spectrum of professional counseling, including psychological, vocational, and spiritual guidance. Harbor Light Center is CARF-accredited and state certified with the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
